Heavy Rain in Portugal

25/04/2015 by Per Andersson

The Rain has been pouring from an open sky for 24h when Race day no 1 is about to get started in Montalegre. The 21 starters in the Supercar category will face a challenging track when weather conditions is everything but easy

The starting grid for heat 1 was decided during the Drivers draw yesterday and Tord Linnerud will start in the very first Supercar heat where he will face the 2013 European Champion Timur Timurzyanow and the 2014 European Champion Robin Larsson. Linnerud who is making his first appearance in the Volkswagen Polo R WRX will try to get a clean start of the Championship and build up the speed during the weekend.

- I am really looking forward to get started in the first heat, and I am happy with the grid position. It is a favour to race together with two fast drivers as time is counting for Qualifying to the semi-finals. I am confident in the car and will go to the first heat with a smile in my face, says the Volkswagen Team Sweden newcomer Linnerud.

Johan Kristoffersson will start in the very last heat of the first round and will race together with former Junior Rally World Champion PG Andersson, Austrian Max Pucher, German Rene Münnich and Reinis Nittis from Latvia.

- I can hardly wait to get in the car again. I am very happy with the performance of our new Polo R WRX during testing, but not until later on today we know how my competitors have managed their development. Meeting PG Andersson and Reinis Nittis in the first heat will be the first real measure of our performance, says an excited Johan Kristoffersson.

The Heavy Rain will make the track very slippery as the forecast tells consistent weather with rain all day.
